Patrick ORourke
Percussionist / Drummer based out of the Merritt Island, Florida area.
One of Brevard County's most renowned and respected drummers, whose style not only reflects his technical gift but also his distinct musical sensibility. No matter what type of music Patrick applies the same precision and intensity to his drumming, which is never lacking in emotion and feel. His timing, sense of rhythm and sheer inventiveness have given him a unique style and sound, which is instantly recognizable, yet compatible with the many different styles of music.
For Patrick, attention to the music, consistency, and dedication are key. As a performing drummer, it is this, along with his easy-going attitude, ability and skill that has continued to earn him positions in the top Brevard bands.
Over the years versatility has become a strong attribute in his playing. Picking up the sticks at age thirteen and performing for audiences by age nineteen, Patrick has been involved in a range of musical genres that include pop, alternative, jazz, blues, rock, progressive, electronic, and industrial.
Aside from drums Patrick plays bass guitar, keyboards, guitar, and sax. Playing other instruments and having experience with producing, engineering, and arranging music continues to create new sounds in his original music. But more importantly, it has become a contributing factor to how he approaches drumming techniques.
Patrick's musicianship as a drummer was influenced by no specific individual element in the music world. Instead, his style has been shaped by legends such as Rush, Boston, Toto, Styx, Yes, Tool, Dream Theater and the Police.
Over the years, Patrick has been the backbone of bands:
